It looks like CU’s spring to life will be put on hold.
Officials announced Friday via news release that due to the winter weather conditions, the annual Potts Invitational scheduled for Saturday would be canceled.
Hopes were high to continue with the meet as scheduled, but according to the National Weather Service, snow showers are expected to continue through Friday evening, presenting unavoidable safety risks on the track.
The university does not plan to make up the meet.
Track and field was not the only CU sport affected by the winter storm.
Women’s soccer postponed their spring match against Metro State in the indoor practice bubble. The game will be re-scheduled fora later date.
Tennis remained unscathed, as their 11 a.m. match against South Carolina is still scheduled for Saturday at the Millennium Hotel Harvest House Bubble.
Track and field will have to wait a week before officially beginning their outdoor season at next weekend’s Stanford Invitational on March 26 to March 27 in Stanford, Calif., where the weather promises to be more cooperative.
CU track and field enthusiasts can look forward to seeing the Buffs in local action again when they host the Colorado Invitational on April 10 at Potts Field.
