The CU tennis team clinched the doubles points and won all six singles matches for the 7-0 victory over the Oregon Ducks (5-2) on Saturday in Albuquerque, N.M.
“Today we had an excellent showing from top to bottom in our lineup,” said CU head coach Nicole Kenneally in a news release. “This is a very good victory for us that will build momentum for Sunday against New Mexico.”
Seniors Camila Belassi and Melisa Esposito as well as sophomore Ania Anuszkiewicz and senior Monica Milewski both won at number one and two doubles for the Buffs (4-3). This marks the third this season that Colorado won the doubles point en route to winning the match.
Colorado won five of their six singles matches in straight sets with Milewski defeating Pavlina Smatova 6-4, 6-1 in No. 1 singles, Esposito defeating Julia Metzger 7-5, 6-0 in No. 2 singles, Belassi defeating Trudie du Toit 6-2, 6-3 in No. 3 singles, junior Abbie Probert defeating Patricia Skowronski 7-5, 6-2 in No. 4 singles, and freshman Erin Sanders defeating Mahdi Besovic 6-3, 6-1 in No. 6 singles.
Sophomore Michala Hedelund Jensen defeated Emmanuelle Cor 6-1, 6-7 (3), 1-0 (7) in her three set No. 5 singles match.
CU will take on the New Mexico Lobos Sunday at 10 a.m.
