Add a new name to the list of former Colorado Buffaloes who will be coming to a TV near you.
Green Bay Packers rookie linebacker Brad Jones appeared in his first extensive action of the first season, and he did not disappoint in helping the Packers beat the Dallas Cowboys 17-7. Meanwhile, an old name, Michael Lewis, helped his team with a huge play at the end of an exciting Thursday night game.
Here are five former Buffaloes who made contributions in Week 10 of the NFL:
Brad Jones, Green Bay Packers linebacker: Jones started in place of the inactive Aaron Kampman and produced a season high of seven tackles. He helped Green Bay’s defense hold the powerful Cowboys’ offense to 278 total yards and three turnovers.
Michael Lewis, San Francisco 49ers safety: Lewis’ interception in the endzone as time expired preserved the 49ers’ 10-6 victory over Jay Cutler and the Chicago Bears on Thursday. Lewis added four tackles as he and the 49ers defense picked off Cutler, the former Denver Broncos quarterback, five times.
Mason Crosby, Green Bay Packers placekicker: Crosby’s 48-yard field goal as time expired at halftime gave the Packers the go-ahead 3-0 lead. He added two fourth-quarter extra points but his 52-yard boot in the first quarter sailed wide left.
Jordon Dizon, Detroit Lions linebacker: Dizon had a nice day with a tackle for loss and a fumble recovery, but it wasn’t enough in the Lions 27-10 defeat to the Minnesota Vikings.
Donald Strickland, New York Jets cornerback: Strickland notched three tackles in the Jets 24-22 home loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. It’s the Jets’ fifth loss in six games.
What to watch for on Monday Night Football: A pair of former Buffaloes may bump heads – literally. Cleveland Browns fullback Lawrence Vickers will lead the way for running back Jamal Lewis and in the process, he might run into Baltimore Ravens defensive tackle Justin Bannan. Watch the head-rattling action at 6:30 p.m. MST on ESPN.
