He was so close, but yet so far.
Colorado Buffaloes senior men’s golfer Justin Bardgett entered the final round of the UCLA Gifford Collegiate Championship at CordeValle, Calif. trailing by two strokes and in second place, but he shot 6-over par Wednesday to finish the tournament tied 15th in the men’s final event of the fall season, according to a news release.
Sophomore Sebastian Heisele was CU’s next best player as he shot a three-day score of 221, good for 46th.
As a team, the Buffs were never in contention and placed 11th out of 14 teams. No. 2 Stanford won the tourney by three strokes over Oklahoma State.
The Buffs will go into hiatus and won’t return to the links until Feb. 3, 2010, when they head to the Mauna Lani Invitational in Big Island, Hawaii.
