Before they could get started, the gravy train came to a stop.
The Colorado Buffaloes volleyball team failed to build on their win over Texas Tech as they fell to No. 22 Texas A&M in four sets, 25-17, 25-11, 23-25, 25-17 at College Station, Texas on Saturday. CU dropped to 6-12 overall and 1-8 in the Big 12 Conference.
Despite the horrendous record, the Buffs did not quit.
The Buffs led by one late in the third set, but the Aggies (13-4, 6-3) scored three of the next four points to take a 23-22 lead. But sophomore outside hitter Becah Fogle’s kill, a Texas A&M attack error and a block from the combined efforts of senior Kaitlyn Burkett and freshman Nikki Kinzer gave CU the third-set win.
CU had the fourth set knotted at 13, but the Aggies went on a 6-1 run and it proved to be too much for the Buffs to overcome for their eighth loss in nine games.
Sophomore outside hitter Rosie Steinhaus recorded her second double-double with 13 kills and 10 digs while newcomer Katie Evanyo had a team-high 13 digs in her third game with the team.
The Buffs will get a chance at their second Big 12 victory as they host Kansas State on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Coors Events Center. The Wildcats are 7-11 overall and 1-7 in conference play.
