Colorado Buffaloes soccer goalkeeper Kara Linder and defender Quinn Krier are celebrating after they received Big 12 Conference honors.
Linder was named Defensive Player of the Week and Krier Newcomer of the Week on Tuesday. The awards were presented for games occurring Friday through Sunday.
After a pair of shutouts against Nebraska and Iowa State, Linder received her second Defensive Player of the Week honor of the season, with her first coming on the first week of the season on Aug. 25. It is the senior’s third Big 12 honor of her career.
On Wednesday, Linder was also named CU’s athlete of the week for the week of Sept. 21-27. It’s the second consecutive week she’s bestowed such honor.
The freshman Krier saw her first start of the season against Nebraska, playing 175 of the 180 combined total minutes as a starter against the Cornhuskers and the Cyclones.
Missouri’s Cree Thornton and Oklahoma’s Whitney Palmer shared Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week.
Krier, officially listed as a midfielder, will likely keep her defensive post alongside Linder on Friday when the Buffs host the Oklahoma Sooners at 4 p.m. at Prentup Field.
