Boulder police are looking for a middle-aged man who robbed a liquor store off of Table Mesa, officials say.
According to the Boulder Police Web site, the man came into Pettyjohn’s Liquor and Wine store around 11 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 5 dressed in a blue trench coat or bathrobe with white face makeup, a gray wig, a mustache and wearing a fake nose.
The man asked the clerk for change for a $20 bill, pulled out a handgun, demanded money and then left, taking an undisclosed amount of cash.
According to police, this might not be an isolated incident either, because the man’s costume was similar to that worn in other liquor store robberies in Boulder.
“We are looking at three robberies to Boulder liquor stores, first in June at the Boulder Beer Emporium, one at A-Ok Liquor on Friday and then Saturday was the one at Pettyjohn’s,” Boulder Police spokeswoman Sarah Huntley said.
Police are unsure if anyone but the clerk was in the store at the time of the robbery, and no one was hurt, Huntley said. Owner Chris Coppinger, 54, declined to comment on the robbery.
