Weekly tips from the CU golf team
Are your scores being blown away because of poor putting? Take this tip from senior player Pat Grady and assistant coach Ben Portie to keep your putting on line, even in hurricane-like winds.
There are a few tweaks necessary for successful putting in the wind. As you approach the green, consider which way the wind is blowing and include that into your analysis of the break in your line. As unlikely as it may seem, the wind will affect the roll of the ball on the green.
The next small tweak is in your stance. Widen your feet just a little to gain the extra stability you need to make a good stroke at the ball. Focus on keeping your head steady and making a smooth stroke through the ball and you’ll be well on your way to making more puts in the wind.
