Panhellenic leaders suspend parties for policy revision
Recent sorority social events have resulted in a temporary alcohol suspension to the CU Panhellenic sorority chapters.
The Panhellenic sorority student leadership agreed to temporarily suspend social events with alcohol after several new members from several different chapters arrived intoxicated to sorority social events.
Director of Greek life John Henderson said the suspension happened about a week and a half ago.
“The student leadership felt it was necessary for the Panhellenic chapters to re-visit their social events policies and procedures before holding future social events,” Henderson said.
David Jones, a senior integrative physiology major, said situations like this give CU a bad reputation.
“I think a suspension would be beneficial for sororities because CU is already thought of as a party school,” Jones said. “Personally I think it’s a great school for academics and things like this just create a false identity for CU.”
Panhellenic leaders contacted have yet to respond for interviews.
