Having a good time doesn’t mean having a significant other this Feb.14
Valentine’s Day sucks.
At least that’s what I always tried to tell myself, but all that was shattered last year when I walked into my dorm room to find balloons and rose petals covering the floor.
By the time Feb. 14 rolls around, it seems like the world is divided into two parts. Those who say they hate Valentine’s Day, and those who say they love it. People are either planning an intimate day with their significant other, or grumbling and glaring at the happy couples.
But this is what I have to say to those that hate the holiday and seeing the cute couples enjoying themselves: it’s your fault.
No one is making you stay at home and be miserable by yourself. Just get out there. Nothing is stopping you from asking that cute girl in your chemistry lab to go on a date with you. Nothing is stopping you from insisting that the handsome stud in your history class takes you out on the town. You have nothing to lose, and it saves a lot of your friends the grief of hearing you moan about how lame your night is going to be.
Hell, if nothing else, why not go out with your best friend that night? Valentine’s day is supposed to be about spending time with the person you love, so why not let that be your roommate or your best friend for a night? Go out for that hamburger you’ve been avoiding, and watch a movie together.
But please, don’t make those of us that enjoy the holiday suffer your complaints.
