Spa treatment, olives make noteworthy holiday gifts
Gift giving and the holidays are two words that go together simultaneously . Here are some great places on Pearl Street and the Hill that offer healthy gifts to keep loved ones happy and feeling good.
Get your clean on: Bath and Body Works at 1820 29th St.
This holiday why not buy a gift that will keep all those pesky germs away? Bath and Body Works, located on 29th Street, offers an anti-bacterial soap called “Warm Chestnut Cheer.” This soap is a blend of roasted chestnut, cinnamon and vanilla and that will get anyone into the smell of Christmas.
Spa me: St. Julien at 900 Walnut St.
Treat a loved one to the “St. Julien Scrub,” at the St. Julien Hotel and Spa on Walnut Street,It is a full-body scrub that softens the skin using aromatherapy and 100 percent organic sugar. A 50 minute treatment is $100.
Thomas Heikes, a freshman fine arts major, said he normally doesn’t give healthy gifts.
“In general I don’t give those gifts often,” Heikes said. “I prefer to give something more interesting.”
Olives for everyone : Oliv You & Me at 2043 Broadway
Oliv You and Me offers a wide variety of olive oils as well beautiful trays and books on olive oil. According to Whole Foods, olive oil has a rich supply of polyphenols. This has been shown to have anti-inflammatory benefits. Olive oil also proves to be helpful in preventing colon cancer and osteoporosis.
Tracey Greenstein, a sophomore philosophy major, says she loves healthy gifts.
“I love giving healthy gifts,” she said. “I feel like if you give a gift it should benefit the person that you’re giving it to. I got my friend a spa package for the holidays and I know she felt great after.”
Get creative and make something:
Make a gift basket and fill it with healthy surprises. Go to Whole Foods Market or Wild Oats Market and pick out some healthy fruits and nuts to fill your basket with. Make a card to top it all off. For a special touch add a gift card from one of these markets to ensure future healthy endeavors!
