As entertainment editor here at the CU Independent, I want all of our readers to have an awesomely entertaining week. Here are my picks for this week so you’ll never have to worry about being bored.
HOLIDAY SHOPPING

Every Saturday from now through Dec. 22, the Twenty Ninth Street Mall will play host to Santa’s reindeer and offer complimentary horse-drawn carriage rides from 5 to 8 p.m. An open-air ice-skating rink will also be available to help get everyone in the holiday spirit. $3 for students, $5 for adults.
Firefly Handmade Holiday Market
On Dec. 14, starting at 11 a.m., the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art will host 70-plus local vendors for a truly unique holiday shopping experience. Admission is $2 to benefit the museum.
EVENTS
Celebrate the holidays with one of today’s most popular brass ensembles, Canadian Brass, at 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15 at Macky Auditorium. Tickets start at $14 and include a pre-concert conversation with Selena Adams at 3:15 p.m. in Macky Room 102.
This bi-annual tradition of free games and food will help with finals procrastination, Monday, Dec. 17 in the UMC. Activities begin at 9 p.m. and include mini-yoga classes, chair massages and bowling. Breakfast will served by faculty and staff from 12 a.m. to 1 a.m.
MOVIES
“The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey”
“Lord of the Rings” fans will be dusting off their prosthetic hobbit feet and wizard hats for the Dec. 14 premiere of director Peter Jackson’s prologue film to the celebrated trilogy. Be warned, though: the film’s innovative 48 frames per second shooting technique is already being discussed nationwide, as it is said to cause sickness and nausea in moviegoers not accustomed to it.
