Matt Barkley led the University of Southern California Trojans in a record-breaking 50-6 rout of the CU Buffs on Saturday afternoon.
With the loss, CU’s record falls to 1-6 (1-3 in the Pac-12) while USC improves to 6-1 (4-1 in the Pac-12).
Barkley threw for six touchdowns, which set both the Pac-12 and USC record for most career touchdowns at 102, passing former Trojan Matt Leinart. His six scores also tied a Trojan record which he set against Colorado in last year’s meeting.

Statistically the Heisman candidate was near-perfect, connecting on 19 of his 20 pass attempts for 298 yards.
Robert Woods and Marquis Lee had their way with the Buffs’ secondary. Woods alone had four touchdown receptions as he set a record of his own with 220, breaking former USC wide out Dwayne Jarrett’s reception record. Lee added a touchdown of his own and together the two combined for 235 yards receiving.
It was evident from the start Colorado was outmatched and outclassed by the 10th-ranked USC team.
The Trojans got off to a quick start, taking a 19-3 lead in the first before out-scoring the Buffs 14-3 in the second. Colorado had no answer defensively for USC, and the Trojans seemingly scored at will.
Offensively Colorado was able to move the ball downfield on several occasions, capitalizing off of USC turnovers. However, the Buffs were only able to come away with two field goals in their trips to the redzone.
Colorado quarterback Jordan Webb finished the day 18-35 for 210 yards and three interceptions. Three CU tailbacks combined for 105 yards rushing in the game.
The Buffaloes continue their road trip out West as they face the No. 3 University of Oregon Ducks next Saturday in Eugene, Oregon. Kickoff will be at 1 p.m. local time.
