As Entertainment Editor at the CU Independent, I want you, our readers, to have an awesomely entertaining week. Here are my picks for this week, so you’ll never have to worry about being bored.
MUSIC
Tuesday: Mumford and Sons’s eagerly awaited sophomore album, “Babel,” will be released Tuesday. The album includes the single “I Will Wait,” and the deluxe edition features a cover of “The Boxer” with Jerry Douglas and Paul Simon, as well as two other bonus tracks. If the band’s performance on SNL this week was any indicator of how good it’s going to be, it’s going to great.

Saturday: Program Council is hosting three Colorado bands at Club 156: Drop Switch, Cold River City and Tatjana Zoeh. Tickets are $10 through Eventbrite, doors open at 8 p.m. and the show starts at 8:30 p.m.
MOVIES
Monday: “Pitch Perfect” stars Anna Kendrick as a college freshman looking to join the world of a cappella singing. From the trailer, it looks like a movie love child of “Glee” and “Whip It”: one part musical meets one part tough-girl grunge. There is a free advanced screening through Program Council at 7:30 p.m. in Chemistry 140.
Friday: On the total opposite of the movie spectrum, “Looper” combines two of the best genres in the film business: time traveling and action-thriller. Starting Bruce Willis and a made-to-look-like-Bruce-Willis Joseph Gordon-Levitt, “Looper” looks like a fun Christopher Nolin-esque film, without the inevitable confusion headache at the end.
EVENTS
Thursday: After a long-awaited football win, Buffs are finally not ashamed to be supporting CU. This newfound team spirit has come just in time for the Parade of Buffs: Shoulder-to-Shoulder Rally, 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the First Bank Center in Broomfield. Tickets are free, but you do have to register to attend the festivities here.
Friday-Sunday: As the self-proclaimed “beer-capital of the U.S.,” it is no wonder Denver is host to one of the largest Oktoberfest celebrations in the nation. Set in Denver’s Ballpark Neighborhood and including free entertainment like a bratwurst-eating contest and live bands, Oktoberfest is sure bring out the feisty, beer-loving German in all of us.
