After breaking a four-game losing streak Sunday against CSU Bakersfield, the University of Colorado women’s soccer team reverted back to the kind of soccer that plagued it earlier this month. The Buffs fell in a scoreless 2-0 effort at Oregon State on Friday evening.
The Buffs were completely dominated by the Beavers, with a foul differential of 17 in OSU’s favor. The Beavers also outshot the Buffs 17 to 11.
Oregon State’s Chelsea Buckland, a junior from Vancouver, couldn’t be stopped. She started her incredible game 23 minutes in with a goal that set the tone for the rest of the match.
Buckland continued to dominate the Buffs’ defense throughout the game with seven shots, and finally put the game out of reach with another goal 64 minutes in. She scored the only goals in the game.
As much as Oregon State seemed to dominate, the Buffs had their opportunities. Seniors Amy Steiner, Kate Russell and Caroline Danneberg and sophomore Anne Stuller each made a shot on the goal, but much like the rest of their season, the Buffs had a hard time challenging the opposition’s goalie.
The Buffs record now goes to 3-5-1, while Oregon State continues to excel this year with a record of 7-2-1. The Buffaloes return to Prentup Field to face Arizona at 4 p.m. next Friday.
