No Stress Monday at Abo’s on the Hill
Join the fine folks at Abo’s on the Hill for their “No Stress Mondays,” which offers $2.00 Jim Beam all day. Hungry? Get a free topping on one pie!
Denver Restaurant Week
Grab your date (don’t forget your wallet!) and take part in the celebration of the Denver area’s restaurant scene. Over 200 restaurants are participating (it won’t be hard to find one in Boulder) and the deal is a tribute to Denver’s famous elevation: $52.80 for two people. Some of these menus include multiple courses, so it’s a great deal!
Tuesday
Free showing of “Blue Gold” in Eaton Humanities
Apparently bottled water is harmful. Find out why in the new documentary, “Blue Gold,” showing in room 150 of Eaton Humanities. Free food will be there, so get there early.
Ultraviolet Hippopotamus & Jimkata at the Fox
Grand Rapids rockers, Ultraviolet Hippopotamus are bound to jam for a better part of the night. Add in electro/pop/rock Jimkata and you’re in for a good, good night. The show starts at 9p.m. and tickets are $5 in advance, $8 at the door with an extra $2 if you’re under 21.
Wednesday
Save a journalist, ride a bull with the CU Independent at Shooters!
Come down to Shooters to party down with the CU Independent staff! There will be tons of prizes, free beer from 8:45p.m. to 9:45p.m. (yes, you read that right), DJ Petey, bull rides and more drink deals than you could shake a stick at. Seriously. This is an all ages event; ages 18 and up need to buy a wristband which will be $3 in advance at the UMC on Monday and $5 at the door. You really have no excuse not to go, so we’ll see you there. And don’t be afraid to challenge us in a bull riding contest. Bring it!
Thursday
Free Mardi Gras party at the UMC
From 7p.m. to 9p.m. the UMC will be celebrating Fat Tuesday in style (the true Fat Tuesday is March 8). Come get free food like red beans and rice, veggie jambalaya, catfish and more. Get really in the spirit by making your own mask while dancing to a New Orleans style band.
Jeff Austin and Friends at the Fox
Yonder Mountain String Band’s mandolinist and Nederland local, Jeff Austin, will be playing the Fox Theatre with friends. Eric Thorin, Nick Forster and Patrick Dethlefs will contribute to this night of sweet, sweet bluegrass. And who doesn’t love Yonder Mountain if you’re living in Boulder?! Get with it! Tickets are $20.

CU Idol at the UMC
If you like American Idol, you’ll love CU Idol! Finalists will sing for your votes (bring your iClicker) and there are cash prizes for the best one. You could date the next Carrie Underwood! Just vote! It’s free and if you’re a member of The Herd, flashing your membership card could win you a cool prize. Check back with the CU Independent for interviews with the contestants.
Program Council presents: Ocean Automatic with Anchorage at Club 156
Local ambient metal rockers will share the stage with Anchorage. Tickets are $5 in advance and $8 at the door. The fun starts at 8:30p.m.

MTV “Real World” auditions at the Lazy Dog
Have you ever watched the debauchery on MTV’s “The Real World” and wanted desperately to join? Well, here’s your chance sunshine. Come to the Lazy Dog between 10a.m. and 5p.m. with a picture of yourself, your I.D. and your shamelessness. Don’t forget the little people when you make it big in the “real” world.
