Junior forward Trey Eckloff and senior guard Levi Knutson were both named to the 2011 Academic All-Big 12 Men’s Basketball First Team, league officials announced Thursday. The honor was Eckloff’s second straight, and Knutson’s third straight.
Members of the first team must have a 3.20 plus grade point average in order to qualify.
The University of Texas led the Big 12 with four selections, while Colorado was runner up.
The men’s basketball academic all-league squad had 12 members on the first team. Four players were on the second team, qualifying with GPA’s between 3.00 and 3.19.
Players must maintain a 3.00 GPA for two semesters and have played in at least 60 percent of their team’s games in order to qualify for the honor. Freshman and transfer students are not eligible in their first year.
