It was Sooner rather than later, as the Buffs continue to struggle.
Colorado volleyball (6-16, 3-13 Big 12) was defeated in straight sets (25-8, 25-16 and 25-17) by the Oklahoma Sooners (18-8, 10-5 Big 12) Wednesday at McCasland Field House.
Junior Richi Bigelow had eight kills to lead Colorado, followed by junior Anicia Santos with four. Sophomore Kerra Schroeder, senior Rosie Steinhaus and freshman Nikki Lindow combined for nine, leaving the team with 23 kills to the 38 Sooner kills.
Defensively, the Buffs had 31 digs, with freshman Megan Beckwith hitting 10 individually. Lindow had three blocks on the night.
Oklahoma dominated the first set, opening a 10-4 lead in the early goings. CU managed to get the score back to 11-7, but a 14-1 Sooner run ended the set.
The second set saw the Sooners open up with a 13-3 lead. Colorado could only get the score back to 15-9 before Oklahoma killed off the set 25-16.
The final set was more of the same. Oklahoma opened up an early 7-1 lead, and the Buffs put on a 5-2 run to get within three points. Colorado was not able to overcome the deficit, and eventually lost the set 25-17.
Colorado comes home to face No. 5 Nebraska at the Coors Events Center on Saturday. Start time is set for 6:30 p.m.
