Round three of the men’s Big 12 Golf Championships is in the books.
The Buffs, who had an up-and-down day, finished where they left off Friday night at seventh in the team race during Saturday’s competition.
Sophomore Sebastian Heisele is shooting consistently en route to a total score of 219 (+3). He recorded a 73 (+1) for the third straight round on Saturday, putting him in a tie for 19th overall.
Jason Burstyn, who led the Buffs coming into play on Saturday, fell behind the pace of his 73-70 opening two rounds. The redshirt freshman posted a 79 (+7) in round three while falling into a tie for 28th place with a total of 222 (+6).
Senior Justin Bardgett bounced back from his disappointing second round 78 on Friday by shooting a 75 (+3). CU’s top player for the season, Bardgett, is slowly climbing back up the standings, currently sitting tied for 31st. Freshman Derek Fribbs is biting on Bardgett’s heels after a third round 77 (+5). His total for the three rounds is 224 (+8) to Bardgett’s 223 (+7).
CU’s fifth man, Kevin Kring, in 58th overall, continues to struggle at the Big 12s. The sophomore posted a 79 (+7) on Saturday to go along with his 81-78 opening rounds for a total of 238 (+22).
No. 1 ranked Oklahoma State has surged ahead to first place at 13-under par 851 followed by No. 7 Texas (853), No. 12 Texas Tech (855) and No. 5 Texas A&M (857).
Kansas State (869), first among the Big 12-North teams, is in fifth place, followed by No. 50 Baylor (876).
Colorado (888) trails first place by 37 strokes after three rounds. With a conference championship all but out of reach, Sunday will be the last round of the season for CU golf.
The Buffs begin their fourth and final round at the tenth hole at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday.
