Many students say they are frustrated with class registration.
“I am waitlisted for two classes,” said Chandra Zdenek, a 19-year-old broadcast news and political science major. “I hope everything will work out.”
Registration for the spring 2010 semester began Oct. 26, and the deadline for registration is Jan. 7. Hours for registration are 7 a.m. to midnight, Monday through Friday and 11 a.m. to midnight on Sunday. Registration is not available Saturdays.
Selina Silva, a 19-year-old sophomore psychology major, said she agreed that the registration process can be difficult.
“I register in an hour,” Silva said. “Last registration, I did not get into any of my classes.”
Alexandra Fox, a 20-year-old sophomore theater major, said she had problems registering when CU Connect was down.
Students said they had many difficulties with registering. Problems many cited were that they had to remember to put down emergency contacts and having to bypass school opportunities, such as collegian sports clubs and College of Music concert cards. They said they had to make sure they were not waitlisted for more than one or two classes, to allow room for guaranteed classes, because CU’s course registration site only allows students to be enrolled in 19 credits including the waitlist.
Ben Limmer, a 20-year-old junior computer science major, said he didn’t have many problems this time.
“I’m not waitlisted at all,” Limmer said. “Being an upperclassman is awesome.”
However, many students said they were unhappy with the process. James Clise, a 19-year-old junior international affairs major, said he had difficulty with the CU Connect site listing incorrect information for him.
“I am technically a junior but they say I’m a sophomore so I didn’t get to register until later,” Clise said. “Now all the upper division classes I need to take are full.”

If you have the credits to be an upperclassman, then you are fine. I came in with 47 credits from AP classes in high school, and the only time I had trouble with getting all the classes I wanted was first semester of Freshman year. Encourage your siblings and younger friends to take APs!
