Construction is continuing on the new Visual Arts Complex and the Community Center at CU.
“It’s perfectly on schedule,” said CU spokesman Bronson Hilliard.
According to CU’s Web site, the $63.5 million Visual Arts Complex being built next to the UMC will be ready and open for the spring 2010 semester. The $84.4 million Community Center, however, is not expected to be ready until fall of 2010.
Anna Rasheed, a 21-year-old junior psychology major, said she is disappointed that the new Community Center will not be open before she graduates this May.
“I’m jealous I won’t be here anymore to use the new building,” Rasheed said. “But I’m excited that the next generation of students will have nicer buildings than we have now. “
Michael Leffel, a 21-year-old sophomore economics major, said he is especially excited for the new Community Center.
“I’m really excited for the new buildings,” Leffel said. “The UMC and Norlin get so packed; I think the new Community Center will help break up all that madness and create a better learning environment for all.”
On the other hand, Ali Epler, a 21-year-old business management major, said she knows very little about the new buildings.
