This has become a broken record.
The Colorado Buffaloes lost their seventh straight game as they fell to the Missouri Tigers in four sets, 25-15, 25-14, 25-27, 25-18, at the Hearnes Center on Wednesday. The Buffs fell to 5-11 overall and 0-7 in Big 12 Conference play.
Although the team has struggled mightily, they have not given up.
After Mizzou had already taken the first two sets and were threatening to sweep CU as they led 20-12 in the third set, the Buffs staged a memorable rally. CU scored six unanswered points to force a timeout and when play resumed, they scored five of the next seven points to take a 23-22 lead.
Mizzou wouldn’t go away though and tallied three of the next four points to force match point at 25-24. The young and resilient Buffs rose up one more time and notched the last three points, the last point coming from freshman Kerra Schroeder, to win the set.
“The comeback that the group on the floor put together in the third set was a positive step for this team tonight,” head coach Liz Kritza said in a news release. “When they play in our system with confidence, then we will have similar results against other quality opponents. It was good to see them pull that set out, especially since we came back from an eight-point deficit to win that set.”
CU will have a week to stew about their winless start in conference play. They won’t return to action until next Wednesday when they host Texas Tech at 7 p.m. in the Coors Events Center.
