Head and Adkins “violated team rules”
Head CU football coach Dan Hawkins suspended redshirt freshman Ethan Adkins for an indefinite amount of time following his arrest for a DUI early Monday morning.
Hawkins also suspended starting junior left guard Devin Head for one game. Head’s suspension is the result of an undisclosed violation of team rules. It is unclear if the two suspensions had any connection.
“This is disappointing to all of us, but we are going to continue to emphasize our philosophy of excellence with class and we will uphold our standards,” Hawkins said of the two suspensions in a press release Monday.
As a redshirt freshman, Adkins was working with the scout team prior to his suspension. Head was the starting left guard for the Buffs in their rivalry game against Colorado State on Sunday.
Hawkins said Blake Behrens would start at left guard in place of Head on Saturday during CU’s game against Eastern Washington and made no further comment.
