Will the weather cramp your spring break plans?
As the first week of spring and the start of spring break rolls around, many students have bikinis and beach bodies on their mind instead of the weather that could make or break their trip.
Severe weather is happening across the country and is expected to continue at least through the weekend.
Those planning to travel home for break should rethink their plans if home is in the Midwest.
Widespread flooding is continuing to affect residents of Ohio and areas around the Mississippi River. Eastern Oklahoma, Arkansas and Illinois are also dealing with heavy rain and deadly flooding.
Students whose hometowns are in the northeast and New England will need to check flight information before leaving. Flights may be delayed and possibly cancelled due to expected blizzard conditions.
Weather at the most popular college Spring Break destinations may not be conducive for fun in the sun.
The forecast for Cancun, Mexico includes thunderstorms through Monday and partly cloudy skies at best the rest of the week. Temperatures will remain around 80 degrees all week, just warm enough to bare all for the camera.
Spring breakers walking down the Vegas Strip, tired from carrying large colored cocktails, will have perfect weather to cool down to poolside. Sunny skies and temperatures between 70 and 80 degrees are in the forecast for the week.
Those going south to South Padre Island, Texas will not be as lucky. Clouds and wind will affect outdoor activities all week long.
For those having a more cost efficient spring break right here in Boulder, average springtime conditions are in store. Skies will be partly cloudy all week and low temperatures will be in the high 40s. Highs will be around 60 degrees.
Boulder weather for the week of spring break will not allow for swimsuits and barbeques, but will be much more enjoyable than the rain and snow showers expected next weekend.
