Police investigation in progress
Police are investigating a series of break-ins at the CU Book Store.
The CU Book Store has been broken into twice since Feb. 29, police said.
“It was electronics both times,” said CU Police Department Cmdr. Brad Wiesley.
Wiesley said iPods were stolen from the book store the Friday night and that laptops and digital camera equipment were taken Tuesday night.
“The detectives are working on the case,” Wiesley said. “Sometimes it can be resolved in a short period of time, sometimes it takes days and weeks and months.”
Wiesley declined to say how many items were taken or give any details of the investigation’s progress.
One person who police spoke to while during their investigation on Tuesday was junior marketing major Kevin Gilpin, 21.
“I guess somebody had been stealing a bunch of stuff . . . they thought it was me,” Gilpin said. Gilpin stated for the record that he was not the thief.
Book Store employees who were interviewed declined to comment, and no obvious evidence of the thefts remained by the end of the day on Tuesday.
