Caution urged on roads; storm to dissipate late Wednesday
Boulder County is under a hazardous weather outlook and snow advisory until Thursday evening, according to the National Weather Service. Snow will continue to fall thereafter and an additional 2 to 4 inches are expected to accumulate through Thursday night.
Students will need to bundle up for a chilly walk to class, as temperatures are not expected to get above 20 degrees on Wednesday or Thursday.
Roads continue to be icy and slick and extra caution is advised. As of 2:30 Tuesday afternoon, there have been no major accidents or road closures in the Boulder area.
The evening highway commute can be the most dangerous due to weather conditions. Drivers are advised to keep more space than usual between cars in front in case of sudden stops.
As for conditions on campus, Facilities Management is responsible for snow removal on streets and sidewalks. They begin removal at 6 a.m. and continue throughout the day if there are two or more inches of snow. Parking services is responsible for snow removal in all parking facilities, including permit and meter lots.
According to a representative from Facilities Management, there are no significant problems regarding snow pileup or blocked walkways and roads on campus today.
Snow is expected to stop by early Wednesday morning, but temperatures will remain low. Skies will be mostly sunny as clouds move out Wednesday afternoon.
