CU set to play Alabama on Dec. 30 in first bowl of the Hawkins era
The CU football team learned its postseason fate Sunday afternoon when it found out it would be headed to Shreveport, La. to play in the Independence Bowl against Alabama on Dec. 30.
CU clinched its bowl-eligible status with a 65-51 win over Nebraska the day after Thanksgiving. For the Buffs, it’s the team’s first bowl appearance under second-year head coach Dan Hawkins.
Alabama (6-6) will be playing in the Independence Bowl for a second consecutive season – this time under the leadership of Nick Saban. The Crimson Tide were 6-2 at one point but lost its last four games, including a shocking upset loss to Louisiana-Monroe.
The game is slated to start at 6 p.m. MT on ESPN. It is the only bowl game being played that day.
