Survey could lead to money for new Veterans Affairs office
The Office of Veteran Affairs at CU, established on Sept. 1, has been discussing grant possibilities with the university, said director Greg Akers.
The campus Office of Veteran Affairs is currently focused on developing a survey for student veterans to answer questions about their needs that should be in circulation within the month.
Before the program can receive any money from the university, the Office of Veteran Affairs must present the university with a list of needs and potential uses for the money.
The Office of Veteran Affairs at the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs campus, established nearly a year ago, recently received a $100,000 grant.
“I’m here to help veteran students as well as staff and faculty members who are veterans be successful,” Akers said. “That’s pretty broad and encompassing, but that’s my mission.”
