Polls opened Monday, Oct. 22 for UCSU voting. Thirteen students are running for five representative at large spots.
The elections will continue through Friday, Oct. 26, at 8 p.m. on CUConnect.
The students represent three different tickets: BUFFS, ACTION and RiSE.
BUFFS
Sophomore MCD biology major Bryan Browne, sophomore business major Uller Doetsch and economics and film major John Slota. The candidates of the BUFFS ticket say they will attempt to improve school funding.
“Our strongest platform is we will use our connections to work for better state funding,” Browne said.
ACTION
The ACTION ticket is composed of five students. Junior international affairs major and current Representative at Large Chance Heath, sophomore integrative physiology major Molly Manweiler, sophomore international affairs and philosophy major Blaine M. Pellicore, junior business major Lauren Swisher and freshman business major Ryan Weiss.
Their platform focuses on improving recreational facilities, supporting student groups and making sure that student fees are well spent.
“The ACTION ticket will work to improve the experience of the whole student body,” said Heath.
RiSE
The RiSE ticket is made up of 10 students. Five students are running for legislative council representative at large positions and five are running for the Arts and Sciences Student Government positions.
The legislative council candidates include senior MCD biology and political science major and First Vice President of the Legislative Council Medhat Ahmed, sophomore law major Clara Nevarez, sophomore architecture major Antonio Andrade, junior business major Ruby Gonzalez and junior international affairs major Claudia Ebel.
The RiSE ticket wants to lobby the state government for more funding for higher education and pushes their ticket as the most diverse.
