Hawkins threw a pass from the 20-yard line to DeVree into the endzone, but the pass was incomplete.
On the second down, with 11 seconds to go, Hawkins threw a 14-yard pass to McKnight to the six yard line.
At second and goal from the six yard line, with seven seconds to go, there was a flag on the play. The delay of game on Colorado resulted in a five-yard penalty.
Intended for Geer, Hawkins pass was intercepted by Carter in the endzone with two seconds to go.

Announced with under two minutes to go, Terrence Wheatley has a knee injury and will not return for the rest of the game.
The senior tailback has been a major playmaker in all of CU’s games this year. Wheatley ranks third in the Big 12 in punt returns, 15th in the nation, averaging 29.6 yards per return in the first two games of the season.
As of the third quarter, Wheatley had 47 yards on two returns.

With just under five minutes left in the game, it was no longer a question of Colorado winning, but scoring.
Wide receiver Stephone Robinson caught the punt and took it to the 29-yard for an 11-yard return.
Hawkins threw a pass to McKnight for a seven-yard gain. Mcknight then caught his second pass of the drive for 12 yards.
At its second first-down of the drive, CU looked to continue gaining yards, which it had failed to do on the previous second first-downs of the half.
Charles caught the pass for a five-yard gain, and then a personal foul on FSU resulted in a 15-yard penalty. Hawkins threw a pass to McKnight, tackled by cornerback Patrick Robinson, for a 16-yard gain. CU now sat at the 11 yard line.
The pass intended for DeVree into the endzone was incomplete, and CU was now on second and 10 from the 11-yard line. This was quickly followed by another two incomplete passes.
With CU fourth and 10 from the 11-yard line, the Buffs decided to take a chance and skip the field goal.
Hawkins threw a pass to tight end Tyson DeVree for a touchdown.
CU could not execute the two-point conversion, but CU continued its streak with 225 straight games now scoring.

Coming out of a timeout, CU fans could watch Cody Hawkins’ pass completion rate diminish. He threw incomplete after incomplete pass, and yet again the Seminoles gained possession.
With under 13 minutes to go in the fourth, CU still had no points on the board. CU has not been shut out in 224 games, since the late 1980’s.

With fourth and 14, Cismesia came in to attempt and 36 yard field goal for Florida State, and the Seminoles went up 16-0.
At the end of the third quarter, Florida State came out and showed that the stats of the first half meant nothing in the long run.
In the third quarter, the Seminoles had 13 first downs, and CU had none. FSU gained nearly 90 offensive yards in the third quarter, whereas CU gained almost 60.
Hawkins went 5-8 in the third quarter, but despite his strength as a quarterback, CU’s inability to gain any yards rushing (a net 5 over the total game) continues to hold them back. Florida State has gained a net 91 yards rushing.

With a 44-yard return and a 5-yard facemask penalty on CU, Florida State continued to move up the field. With another five-yard penalty on Colorado, offsides, the Seminoles were only 10 yards away from their second touchdown of the game.
Florida State got a five yard penalty after a false start, now sitting at the 15 yard line.
FSU took their second timeout.
Coming out of the timeout, FSU made no significantly strong plays and sat fourth and four and Cismesia came out to attempt a 27-yard field goal.
The field goal good, FSU went up 13-0.

Gano came on the field to punt for FSU, with punt returner Chase McBride to receive. He caught the 40 yard punt and brought the ball to the 15 yard line, a 2 yard return.

Although CU could not execute enough to gain a first down, a holding call on FSU resulted in 10-yard penalty.
They followed the penalty with a pass to wide receiver Josh Smith for a 38-yard gain to Florida State 26 yard line.
Hawkins threw a pass to wide receiver Scotty McKnight for a 6-yard gain, and followed this with a pass to Charles for a 13-yard gain.
CU could not keep up this pace, though, and Hawkins was sacked by Everette Brown, resulting in a 7-yard loss. Now second and 17, this was followed by a four and then a 5 yard loss.
Now at the 29 yard line, Eberhart came on to attempt the field goal.
The 36-yard field goal was no good. With just under eight and a half minutes left in the third quarter, the Seminoles regain possession.

Although CU still dominated in possession time at the end of the half, the Buffs failed to dominate what mattered most: the scoreboard.
The Seminoles lead 10-0, despite being tied with the Buffs for total offensive yards.
One stat that stands out is rushing. Although both teams had 15 rushes, Florida State has gained nearly twice the amount of yardage (63 to Colorado’s 33). However, the Seminoles only have 65 passing yards to CU’s 95.
For a Seminole team that stated one of their main strategies was putting pressure on the Colorado redshirt freshman quarterback, FSU did not deliever. Hawkins went 16 of 22, whereas Weatherford only went 5 of 9.
Florida State also is ahead of CU in penalties, losing a total 20 yards to CU’s 15.
The other stats that stands out in favor of the Seminoles: punt returns and interceptions. With 20 yards on an interception that resulted in a touchdown and 29 yards in punt returns to CU’s zero, Florida State was able to step up where it counted.
This is only the second game in which Colorado is scoreless in the first half of its last 48 games.

Hawkins threw an incomplete pass, intended for Sprague. At second and ten on the 43 yard line, Hawkins threw a complete pass to Crawford for a five yard gain.
He followed this with one more incomplete pass, intended for Williams, very high out of bounds.
With Di Lallo ready to punt, Colorado was called for delay of game and a five yard penalty.
Now with just over a minute in the half, Di Lallo punted to the 20 yard line. Florida State had 59 seconds to get a last drive in before the end of the half.
The Seminoles continued to lose yardage, though, and ran off the field with 11 seconds left.

On the 39 yard line, second and eight, Weatherford threw a pass to wide receiver De’Cody Fagg. With a tackle of cornerback Terrence Wheatley and safety Daniel Dykes, FSU gained 14 yards on the play. This moved them to the 47 yard line before the team took a timeout.
Coming back from the timeout, there was a false start by the Seminoles resulting in a 5 yard penalty.
The penalty created no issues on reaching the next first down, however, as Weatherford threw a pass to Fagg, tackled by Wheatley, for a 17-yard gain.
Soon after, Weatherford threw a pass to Parker, tackled by safety Ryan Walters, for an 18-yard gain. FSU lost one yard on the next carry before gaining four to the 12 yard line, third and seven.
With a complete pass to Smith, tackled by linebacker Jeff Smart, FSU lost another yard, setting them at fourth and eight.
Cismesia attempted a 31-yard field goal. The kick good, Florida State went up 10-0 with under 5 minutes left in the half.

Hawkins threw a pass to Geer, who is tackled by Carter. With a 1 yard gain the Buffs sit fourth and four.
Geer did not get up after the play, and had to be helped off the field. Halfway to the sideline however, he jogged the rest of the way on his own.
There was no flag on the play, and CU is set to punt at the 26 yard line.
Geer had a knee injury, and will return to the game.

At the end of the first quarter, CU led with 59 passing yards over FSU’s 17. CU had led the quarter in possession, on offense for nearly 12 minutes of the 15-minute quarter.
Hugh Charles led CU in rushing with three carries for 13 yards. Cody Hawkins started the game strong going 8-10 for 59 yards. Florida State’s Weatherford was 1-3 for 17 yards.
Early in the second, Hawkins threw an interception, intended for Williams, to Tony Carter. Carter gained 20 yards on the return and FSU now sat at the 50 yard line.
From 36 yards out, the Seminoles got the first points of the game with a touchdown by tailback Antone Smith. Kicker Gary Cismesia made the extra point, and FSU went up 7-0 with 10:45 in the second.

At the 36 yard line, second and 6, Hawkins threw a pass to wide receiver Patrick Williams for a 9-yard gain.
With a handoff to tailback Hugh Charles, CU gained 3-yards. The Buffs gained another 8 yards and a first down with a pass to wide receiver Dusty Sprague.
After an incomplete pass to wide receiver Josh Smith, the freshman is seeing his first playing time of the season this season after an injury in the preseason.
CU gained 7 yards.
With no gain on the next play and the Buffs at fourth and 3, CU decided not to punt and go for the first down.
Hawkins threw a pass to Charles for a first down.
On the next play, there was a false start on CU and a 5 yard penalty. Now at first and 15 on the 29 yard line, CU was unable to gain the next first down.
Placekicker Kevin Eberhart attempted a 37-yard field goal, but went wide right.
With less than 20 seconds left in the first, the Seminoles gained possession.

Quarterback Cody Hawkins threw a complete pass to wide receiver Cody Crawford for a 5 yard gain. However, Colorado needs six yards for a first down.
At fourth and one, Matt Di Lallo punted 35 yards, and after a five yard return by Preston Parker, the ball sat at the FSU 41 yard line.
After an off sides call on Colorado and a five yard penalty, Brandon Nicolas tackled FSU’s Antone Smith for a loss of 1 yard. With two more CU tackles, the Seminoles had to punt to CU.
CU did not execute on its next drive, but neither could Florida State on their next drive.
After a punt by FSU, the ball now sits at about the 20 yard line with 7:49 left in the first.

With under five minutes until gametime, Ralphie does his usual lap around Folsom Field.
Unlike past weeks, however, the student section is almost entirely black, as part of the “Black Out” of Folsom Field.
That is not the only difference in tonight’s home opener against Florida State University. This game is being televised on ESPN.
Florida State, one of the nation’s college football powerhouses and the winningest team of the 1990s, has opened its season 1-1.
