Wardenburg changes kick off semester
The University of Colorado Student Union Legislative Council held their first meeting of the school year Thursday.
The meeting began with a report by Assistant Vice Chancellor Gary Chadwick on the Wardenburg Health Center.
“Wardenburg is going through extreme reorganization,” said Chadwick.
According to Chadwick, the basis of Wardenburg’s reorganization is major inefficiencies in funding, space and personnel. Chadwick has assigned an internal review committee, comprised mostly of students, to help with the restructuring of Wardenburg.
His goal for Wardenburg is to provide health care for an average of three students per hour as opposed to the current average of one student per hour. Chadwick believes this goal could be reached by allowing more space for the health center.
Wardenburg and the other cost centers will report to UCSU on a regular basis throughout the year.
Senior Ashley Glassman was ratified as UCSU liaison to administration. Senior Amy Harris was ratified as sustainability director.
“My goals in my new position are to help Greek houses with recycling, and to reduce carbon emissions,” said Harris.
Senior Jacob Vigil was ratified as director of city and neighborhood relations.
“I would like to show the Boulder community that CU students are not about partying, but about working hard,” said Vigil.
The Legislative Council also amended the election code. Candidates in student elections must now sign a contract confirming their party affiliation, and the ballot must be announced two weeks prior to the election.
