Our sports staff picks the winners
With one of the most intriguing college football Saturdays of the year on the horizon, The Campus Press’ sports gurus let you in on who will come out victorious and who won’t live up to the hype. Can Texas stop Adrian Peterson and hated-rival Oklahoma in the Red River Shootout? Will Georgia show up between the hedges against Tennessee? Will there be more than 15 points scored between LSU and Florida?

BUFFS 23, Baylor 17 – One of only three real winnable games left, so CU better show up.
LSU 13, Florida 10 – Will be a classic for those who like defense. Everyone else will snooze.
Michigan 38, Michigan State 13 – Wolverines too good and Spartans too crushed from last two losses.
Texas 27, Oklahoma 20 – UT will stack up on Adrian Peterson and get enough big plays to win.
Tennessee 31, Georgia 14 – Dawgs could barely handle CU at home. Underrated Vols roll.
California 38, Oregon 35 – Classic high-scoring Pac-10 game. Cal wins, as long as it doesn’t come down to replay.
Nebraska 24, Iowa State 17 – Brett Myers will get Cyclones close, but Huskers pull away late.
Texas Tech 42, Mizzou 31 – Tech offense is very impressive, Tigers will have trouble keeping up.
Iowa 16, Purdue 7 – Old-fashioned, slobber knocker Big 10 football. Better team prevails here.

BUFFS 17, Baylor 10 – It’s Homecoming, come on.
LSU 28, Florida 24 – Florida might not have DeShawn Wynn.
Michigan 35, Michigan St. 20 – Michigan looks too good this year to lose to in-state rival.
Oklahoma 20, Texas 17 – Going to be the game of the week.
Tennessee 21, Georgia 10 – Georgia is not as good as they appear.
California 17, Oregon 14 – Two offenses are about the same, so it will come down to the defenses.
Nebraska 24, ISU 10 – Nebraska is very overrated, but they will take down Iowa State.
Missouri 28, Texas Tech 10 – Saw Mizzou game against CU in person and realized Tigers’ defense is really good.
Iowa 24, Purdue 21 – Going to be a good game, but I think Iowa can do it.

BUFFS 24, Baylor 17. After the game, Dan Hawkins invites the entire crowd to his house to celebrate the biggest win in his history at the school.
LSU 17, Florida 14. Two very good defenses but JaMarcus Russell makes more big plays than Chris Leak.
Michigan 45, Michigan State 17. Michigan State lost to Illinois last week. Enough said.
Oklahoma 14, Texas 13. Paul Thompson has been much better than anyone expected.
Georgia 23, Tennessee 20. Philip Fulmer’s teams always under whelm me (See narrow win over Air Force earlier this season).
Cal 28, Oregon 27. Call it karma. Oregon gets robbed by the bad call of a replay official that is the second cousin of Bob Stoops’ barber.
Nebraska 31, ISU 21. After the game, Nebraska players comment on how exciting of a town Ames, Iowa is.
Texas Tech 24, Mizzou 21. If Missouri gave up 373 yards of offense to the Buffs, what is going to happen against an offensive system like Tech’s that can make Kliff Kingsbury look like Carson Palmer?
Iowa 28, Purdue 16. Iowa isn’t that bad. Ohio State is just that good.

Baylor 20, BUFFS 17. Welcome to the Big 12 cellar, CU. Enjoy the cobwebs.
LSU 10, Florida 6. LSU won’t disappoint the oddsmakers who made them the first SEC team to be favored going into The Swamp since 1988.
Michigan 34, Michigan State 33. Michigan State will lead this one until the final minute, and after the game the Spartans will create a new position on their staff: Heimlich Maneuver Specialist.
Oklahoma 17, Texas 13. Adrian Peterson will help Texas fans remember they don’t have Michael Huff to stop the long runs anymore.
Georgia 21, Tennessee 7. Georgia fans would be smart to fill Athens with chants of “O-ver rat-ed!” because that is exactly what Tennessee is.
Oregon 38, Cal 17. The most stylish team in college football won’t need the refs’ help in this one. Ducks roll.
Nebraska 31, Iowa State 14. Nebraska establishes a stranglehold on the Big 12 North in this one…Wait, what about Missouri?
Texas Tech 28, Missouri 14. Yep, the Tigers lose any shot at winning the North with this loss to Tech and the Red Raiders’ offense, which for some reason continues to win games despite forgetting to run the ball.
Iowa 35, Purdue 0. Iowa just played the best team in the country. Nice little warm up before they show the country how bad the Boilermakers really are.

CU 12, Baylor 10 – Buffs will depend on Crosby and defense to prevail at home.
Florida 27, LSU 14 – Chris Leak makes a case for Heisman in critical SEC showdown.
Michigan 31, MSU 21 – In-state rivalry not enough to fuel reeling Spartans.
Oklahoma 24, Texas 20 – Oklahoma will exploit inexperience of Colt McCoy in “Red River Shootout.”
Tennessee 30, Georgia 24 – Volunteers step up to the plate in must-win game.
Oregon 42, Cal 38 – Oregon rides momentum from ASU victory in this PAC-10 shootout.
Nebraska 35 Iowa State 17 – The Cornhuskers’ 14th-ranked pass offense will have a field day with the weak Iowa State secondary.
Missouri 28, Texas Tech 14 – Missouri’s high-powered offense will be too much for Tech to handle.
Iowa 35, Purdue 27 – Iowa will bounce back and release frustration on Purdue after being decimated by Ohio State.
