The Colorado women’s golf team is looking to be a contender in the Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic.
The Buffs are in second place after two rounds Monday in the classic which is being hosted in Fort Collins. The Buffs trail hosts Colorado State by three strokes with 578.
Junior Emily Talley leads the Buffs with two rounds under par. Her first round 69 (-3) matched her career low, and for the day she shot a 5-under 139, which leaves her in third individually.
Freshman Kristin Coleman opened strong, as was 5 strokes under par after eight holes. Down the stretch she struggled, with a triple bogey on 16 and a double on 18. She now sits tied for 17th with a 145.
The par-5 16th also caught junior Jess Wallace, who shot triple bogey. Wallace was strong through the rest of the day, shoot 2-over on the 35 other holes. Wallace is tied with sophomore Taylor Doyle for 21st with a 147. Freshman Jennifer Coleman two-round 160 leaves her tied for 80th place.
The Buffs have three individual scorers; Junior Meaghan Kari is tied for 75th at 17-over-par, Senior Jamie Befort sits tied for 84th with a score of 162. Sophomore Devin Dougherty finished the day 21 strokes over par with a 163.
The final round tees off Tuesday at 8:30 a.m with a shotgun start.
