For the fourth straight week, the Florida Gators top the poll as they received all seven first-place votes.

The difference between No. 2 Texas and No. 3 Alabama is closing as the Longhorns topped the Crimson Tide by one point this week.

No. 8 Pitt and No. 9 Utah, which is in a tie with LSU, are two new additions to the Top 10 poll after Iowa and Oregon lost over the weekend.

Here is Week 4 of the CU Independent Top 10 college football poll:

No. 1 Florida, 9-0, 70 points (7), last week No.1: Gators stay at the top and likely won’t have another competitive game until their tilt with Alabama for the SEC title. – David Starcer, CU:I men’s basketball beat writer

No. 2 Texas, 9-0, 60 points, last week No. 2: An elite defense combined with Colt McCoy makes the Longhorns a favorite for the national title. – Michael Krumholtz, staff writer

No. 3 Alabama, 9-0, 59 points, last week No. 3: Not only do they have to play second fiddle in their conference, but they have to do it in the nation as well. Watch for Alabama to top the polls if they can beat Florida in a few weeks. – Ron Knabenbauer, CU:I co-sports editor

No. 4 Cincinnati, 9-0, 43 points, last week No. 4: The Bearcats just keep on winning, no matter who’s at quarterback. – Krumholtz

No. 5 TCU, 9-0, 41 points, last week No. 8: Based on record, they should be here. But their offense has to prove more before they can reach the big game. – Brent Wilson New, staff writer

No. 6 Boise State, 9-0, 35 points, last week No. 4: Somehow, I almost forgot about Boise State. I wonder what that means. – Kayla Cornett, staff writer

No. 7 Georgia Tech, 9-1, 32 points, last week No. 10: Yellow Jackets are for real. – Ryan Callahan, staff writer

No. 8 Pitt, 8-1, 14 points, not ranked last week: Their last two games are against West Virginia and Cincinnati. We’ll find out what this team is really made of after that. – Starcer

No. 9 (tie) LSU, 7-2, 9 points, last week No. 9: Two losses against the top two teams in the BCS. Could be worse. – New

No. 9 (tie) Utah, 8-1, 9 points, not ranked last week: Last year, the Utes’ home field advantage helped them to wins over TCU, BYU, and the No. 2 ranking at the end of the season. This year, they will have to travel to Fort Worth, Texas and Provo, Utah if they plan to achieve a similar result. – Cheng Sio, CU:I co-sports editor
