Vandalism still under investigation

CU Police Department does not have any leads in a recent report of vandalism on the CU campus, according to Cmdr. Tim McGraw.

A police officer discovered the break-in at the Ramaley Biology building while patrolling the campus March 20 at approximately 6 a.m., according to the police report. McGraw, the public information officer for CU campus police, said the case is still under active investigation and declined to reveal the potential motives, suspects or criminal charges.

The vandals ruptured water pipes that flooded the building badly, causing classes to be cancelled the next day. They also ripped down signs and tore down an eyewash station from the wall.

CU spokesman Bronson Hilliard said it is not yet clear whether the lab work of faculty members and students has been stolen, damaged or destroyed.

“A total damage estimate has not been calculated yet,” Hilliard said.

McGraw said that this recent incident caused “a substantial amount of damage.”

“There are not a whole lot of security cameras on campus,” McGraw said. “[There are some at the] stadium and cash places.”
