Boulder Police are looking for a suspect in an assault that occurred Monday afternoon in the area of 28th and Colorado, which is located at a tunnel entrance to the CU campus.

According to officials, the attack occurred between the times of 4:15 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. The female victim told police that she was walking alone eastbound on Colorado when an unknown male suspect grabbed her from behind, putting his arm across her neck.

The victim was carrying a canister of pepper spray and was able to spray her attacker in the face. The suspect then hit the victim and yelled as the victim tried to flee. After running away from her attacker, the victim called the police and received medical attention for her sustained injuries.

According to the news release, the victim thinks the suspect was wearing a grey baggy sweatshirt with a dark blue or black knit stocking cap.

Three bicyclists were in the area during the time of the attack and police would like to speak with them to see if they can provide any details about the incident. 

If spotted recently, the suspect might have red watery eyes and an odor of pepper spray on his clothes or on his person.
