It came down to a matter of seconds in the 4×100-meter relay at the Tom Benich invite.
.01 seconds to be exact.
The Buffs ended the only day of the Tom Benich Classic on Saturday victorious in the 4X100-meter relay in Greeley.
Sophomore Quinton Dodson, senior Jeremy Dodson, freshman Kyle MacIntosh and junior Matthew McCathran passed the finish line a mere .01 seconds faster than the second place team, Colorado State.
Colorado’s final winning time was 41.21 seconds while Colorado State’s was 41.22 seconds.
Jeremy Dodson, MacIntosh and McCathran joined junior Adrian Gomez attempting to replicate their earlier results, but this time in the 4×400 relay. However, they were unable to add a win on the day, finishing in fourth with a time of 3:20.50.
The women’s team also recorded top finishes on the day. Composed of freshman Sydney Davis, sophomore Amber Rozier, junior Toi Windham and junior Joi Windham, the women’s 4×400 relay team finished in second place with a time of 3:57.54.
Freshman athlete Sally Page finished in second place with a javelin throw of 119 feet, 4 inches. In the men’s field events, junior athlete Kevin Fasing finished in third place with a throw of 188 feet, 1 inches.
Three women placed in the top five of the shot put competition. Senior Chynna McCall placed in third place with a throw of 41-07.25, followed by freshman Emily Hunsucker’s 42-03.00 throw, which was good enough for fourth place. Freshman Molly Potter rounded out the top five with her throw of 40-09.00.
Track and field returns to Boulder to train for the CU Invitational at Potts Field from Friday to Saturday.
