Ranked No. 16, the Buffs women’s golf team finished the first day of the Colonel Wollenberg Ram Classic in 12th place. By the second day, they moved up three spots to tie for ninth place at the end of the three-round tournament. This match at Ptarmigan Country Club was the first for the women’s 2012-2013 season.
Freshman Alexis Keating led the CU women with a total of 226, placing her in a tie for 24th at the end of the tournament. The first day she shot 74-74, just four-over par, and the second day she shot a 78.

Freshman Jamie Oleksiew had a 77 and 78 in the first two rounds. She led the CU women in the third round by shooting a 72, even par, tying for 30th with a total of 227.
Junior Kristin Coleman finished with 228 (73-80-75), tying for 35th. She finished with the lowest round of all CU women with a 73 on the first day, just one over par.
Junior Jenny Coleman scored two 77s in the first round, with a 75 on the second day, tying for 39th overall. Freshman Allie Zech tied for 56th with a score of 233, freshman Megan Haase scored a 234, tying for 58th and senior Devin Dougherty sat in 80th with a cumulative score of 245.
The Buffs were 34-over par with a cumulative score of 610 to finish the first two rounds. The second day they added 303, 15-over par to finish at 913, 49-over par.
With an 11-shot lead after the first day, the victory went to Texas Tech University, the only team to have finished under par at 860. Texas Tech won by a total of 27 strokes.
The CU women’s golf team will head to Albuquerque, N.M., for the Branch Law Firm Dick McGuire New Mexico Invitational on Sept. 17-18.
