The Buffs’ final home game of the season against Arizona on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011 doubled as their first home-field victory, with a final score of 48-29. However, it was also Senior Day, the last home game ever for all senior players. CU Independent photographers brought back these images of the bittersweet win.

On Nov. 5, CU volleyball took on the University of California Bears in the Coors Events Center but sadly couldn’t upset Cal, who are ranked seventh in the Pac-12. CU lost 25-23, 20-25, 25-15 and 25-20 in a series of four games played. CU Independent photographer Kristy Gustafson recorded the action.

Skrillex brought his crazy long-haired dubstep vibe to the intimate venue of Beta Nightclub on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011 for a sold out performance, following headlining FirstBank Center in Broomfield the previous night. Dreadlocked guitarman Trevor Hall and cohort Cas Haley took CU’s most intimate venue, the theater in Old Main, by storm on Oct. 28. Hall’s music incorporates elements of many styles, including classical guitar, hip-hop, reggae and chill-out folk rock. CU Independent photog Kristy Gustafson got a few quick snaps of his performance.

On Saturday, Oct. 22, the Oregon Ducks took on the Buffs at Folsom Stadium. Though CU fought hard, Oregon, ranked #7 in the Pac-12, brought their game on a level the Buffs couldn’t match. Oregon won 45-2. CU Independent photographers caught the carnage with their cameras.

Photos: Program Council & CU Late Night’s Battle of the Bands

CU Independent photographer Robert Denton shot the 2011 Battle of the Bands, which was put on by Program Council and CU Late Night on Friday, Oct. 14, 2011 in the Glen Miller Ballroom.

The Sandbox Indigo Boys won first place, recording time and a show at the UMC’s Club 156. Nine bands played in all and the winner was chosen by a panel of judges.
