It’s Halloween week and there are lots of scary things going on at CU to entertain you all week long!
MONDAY
Pac-12 Fitness Challenge Kick-off
CU Boulder is taking on the Pac-12 by participating in the Pac-12 Fitness Challenge. Join your fellow Buffs being physically active and logging your minutes this week on the Fitness Challenge Facebook page. The competition kicks off with Fit Fest at Farrand Field from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Later, get moving with the Learn to Dance to Thriller event in Carlson Gym from 5 to 6:30 p.m. There
will be free fitness classes and prize giveaways every day this week!
Winter Warmth Drive donations
Donate your old coats, mittens, hats and boots to Boulder Staff Council and Boulder Valley Rotary Club’s Winter Warmth Drive. Donation bins can be found at these locations: Police & Parking, College of Architecture and Planning, Imig Music, UMC Book Store, Education, Continuing Ed, School of Business, Armory, Norlin, Old Main, Wolf Law, Rec Center, Family Housing, Housing Facilities, ATLAS, C4C, ARC and Fac Man Stadium. Donations will be accepted now until November 14.
TUESDAY
Artist Series: Irish Chamber Orchestra with Leon Fleisher
Come hear celebrated pianist Leon Fleisher play with the Irish Chamber Orchestra. They will perform a number of works including one by Mícheál Ó Suilleabháin that commemorates the 10th anniversary of 9/11. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. in Macky Auditorium with a pre-concert conversation in Macky Auditorium at 6:45 p.m. Check out an interview with Fleisher here.
Annual Networking Night
Looking for a job or internship this coming year? Come to the Career Services Networking Night to meet top industry employers and learn valuable networking skills. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. with light refreshments in the Center for Community. CU students and alum should RSVP on the CSO website.
Showing of “Revengers Tragedy”
Come check out Alex Cox’s 17th century dark comedy, “Revengers Tragedy,” in Muenzinger at 7 p.m. Cox will be available for a Q & A. Tickets are free for film studies majors and $6 for CU students.
THURSDAY
Fox 2011 Halloween Run
Denver-based band, Yamn, will be performing with Indobox and The Magic Beans for the Fox’s annual Halloween Run. The bands will be playing hits from the popular film, “Almost Famous.” Listen to some of Yamn’s music and get more information on the band on their website.
Ladies Night with the CUI
Absinthe House and the CU Independent are hosting Ladies Night this week, once again. Come dressed in your costume for some Halloween fun and women enjoy free drinks from 10 p.m. till midnight while DJ Petey mixes sweet jams.
FRIDAY
Free Screening of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2”
Start off your Halloween weekend with Harry Potter at Program Council’s Friday Night Film Series. This free film begins at 9 p.m. in CHEM 140.
SATURDAY
The Nearly Naked Mile
Join 650 fellow Buffs in one of Boulder’s biggest and coldest events. This year’s theme is ”Animal House,” the classic college flick. Wear five articles of clothing that you would like to donate to the charity A Precious Child, which The Herd is partnering with for this event. Then take it all off as you run through campus! Gift cards will be awarded to the fastest female and male runners. Runners who donate their clothing will receive a free T-shirt. The run starts between 8:30 and 8:45 p.m. Find more information on the CU Herd website.
