The student victim that was hit by a pick up truck earlier this evening is currently undergoing surgery.
Boulder Police Department Sergeant Jack Walker said that the victim’s condition is life threatening, and his identity has yet to be released.
The driver of the vehicle which struck the victim was confirmed by Sergeant Walker to be a 20-year-old male CU student.

The truck that hit a CU student sits by the side of the road on Regent Drive outside the Center 4 Community. The condition of the student is life-threatening according to Boulder Police spokeswoman Kim Kobel. (CU Independent/Robert R. Denton)
“It’s too early to tell at this point,” Walker said. “We are still investigating and we don’t anticipate any charges tonight.”
Kim Kobel, spokesperson for Boulder Police, said the fault in this incident is still unclear.
“If the student is jaywalking it wouldnt be the driver’s fault,” Kobel said. “If somebody is not in the cross walk there is some liability as far as who is at fault in the accident.”
The driver did not see anybody in the road until he hit the young man, Kobel said.
Speeding and alcohol do not seem to play a factor in this case.
The names of the victim and the driver are not being released as of yet.
