Sunday was a good day for the Buff’s women’s golf team.
After the first round Sunday, the Colorado women’s golf leads the 2010 Alamo Invitational Tournament in San Antonio, Texas.
The team is ahead of TCU by 3 strokes.
TCU led the tournament for most of the day, but a last-minute surge by the Buffs put the Buffs on top. Big 12 rivals Texas A&M sit in third, five strokes from the lead.
Junior Emily Talley is tied for the overall individual lead. Talley opened with a bogey, but rallied quickly, getting back to even par on the fourth hole. She shot an eagle and three birdies to finish out the round.
Freshman Tessa The shot an even par 72 and is tied for third in her first tournament, after replacing injured sophomore Taylor Doyle.
The had a shaky start to the round, shooting three bogeys in four holes but was able to get two strokes back on the seventh and eighth holes. On the back nine, she had three birdies to go with two bogeys.
Freshmen Jenny and Kristin Coleman did not play well Sunday, as they are currently suffering through illness. Kristin went 8-over with an 80, and Jenny could only muster a 9-over, finishing with an 81.
Colorado will continue the tournament Monday, and finish Tuesday with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
