CU guard Cory Higgins was named to the preseason All- Big 12 team Thursday.
It is only the second time a CU player has earned this honor (Richard Roby 2006-2007).
Higgins joins the likes of Baylor guard LaceDarius Dunn, Kansas forward Marcus Morris, Kansas State forward Cutis Kelly and preseason Big 12 player of the year Jacob Pullen, the guard from Kansas State.
Along with Higgins, the preseason honorees included CU guard Alec Burks who received an honorable mention.
Coming into his final season as a Buff, Higgins ranks eighth in CU’s all-time scoring list with 1,391 points, and has led the Big 12 in steals for the past two seasons.
As for the two CU honorees, they will make up the third highest scoring 1-2 returning-guard-tandem in the nation (36 ppg). Higgins and Burks were both also honored with making the John R. Wooden preseason top 50 list, the award for the most outstanding collegiate basketball player on-and-off the court.
The Buffs start practice Friday Oct. 15 in Boulder.
