The Benson Earth Sciences building was evacuated Wednesday morning due to a small gas leak according to Molly Bosley, spokeswoman for the CU Police Department.
“[Benson] was evacuated at about 10 a.m. this morning,” Bosley said.
Bosley said the gas leak was located in one room, room 1B71 , located in the basement of the building.
The building re-opened at approximately 10:30 a.m., but room 1B71 remains closed off, Bosley said. The scene is currently being evaluated by CU’s Facilities Management and Xcel Energy.
Bosley said it is unknown at this time when room 1B71 will re-open.

Nice work on the breaking news. One question: how often do gas leaks occur that result in buildings being evacuated? Any possible trend?
