Sooner or later, the Colorado Buffaloes volleyball team will need to pick up another victory. It just can’t come soon enough.
The Buffs lost their fourth consecutive game as they fell to the Oklahoma Sooners in straight sets, 25-20, 25-12, 25-16 on Wednesday at McCasland Field House in Norman, Okla. CU is 6-15 overall and 1-11 in the Big 12 Conference while Oklahoma moves to 14-7 and 7-5, respectively.
“I really felt like we missed a big opportunity to show the progress we have made so far this season, especially against a strong defensive team like Oklahoma,” said head volleyball coach Liz Kritza in a news release. “We have been up and down throughout the season, as can be expected from a young and inexperienced team, but we are making progress in many areas. Unfortunately, they don’t directly show in the final result or even point totals sometimes.”
CU’s best showing was the first set when they took the match’s first three points. However, OU tied it 7-7 and took the lead for good with the next point. In the following two sets, Oklahoma jumped out to 10-2 and 11-5 leads.
Senior setter Kaitlyn Burkett led the club with 27 assists while sophomore outside hitter had nine kills.
The Buffs return home to face No. 9 Iowa State at 4 p.m. on Halloween at the Coors Events Center.
