At MTV’s Video Music Awards this year, Kayne West cut Taylor Swift off mid-sentence, stole her microphone and proceeded to humiliate her. Last week, Lindsay Lohan partied with her younger sister, Ali, and made headlines. It’s hard not to ask why certain people are famous.
Many CU students have a list of celebrities they’d like to see disappear.
Haile Cordes, a freshman open-option major, said she does not like West after the VMAs incident.
William Harris, a 20-year-old sophomore mechanical engineering major, said he agreed about disliking West.
“Kayne is the most popular to hate right now,” Harris said. “But the purpose of the VMAs is to create drama. I don’t know why everyone is surprised this happened.”
Harris also said that he does not like Tom Cruise because of his involvement with Scientology.
Gus Flottman, a 20-year-old sophomore creative writing major, also doesn’t like Cruise because of his Scientology beliefs.
“I also think Kayne West is pretty bad,” Flottman said. “And Paris Hilton and Terrell Owens, because he is obnoxious.”
Andrew Trujillo, a freshman open-option major, said he would like Will Ferrell to go away.
“He thinks he is funny but he’s not,” Trujillo said. “He should stop making movies.”
Gabby Boloker, a 19-year-old freshman international affairs major, said she hates Ferrell as well.
“He is annoying and does the stupidest movies,” Boloker said.
Senior history major Samantha Koontz, 21, thinks Julia Stiles is annoying.
“I can’t stand any of her movies,” Koontz said.
A.J. Gray, a 21-year-old senior music major, said he doesn’t like Ellen Page.
“Because Juno was such a crappy movie,” Gray said.
Another music major, 19-year-old sophomore Justin Olmos, dislikes Katy Perry.
“She is not a good performer,” Olmos said. “Her show at the Grammys was horrible.”
