Both victims released from Boulder Community Hospital
CUPD is searching for those responsible for dropping a mirror out of Sterns West tower Friday morning that injured two.
The two individuals were hurt outside of Sterns West tower in Williams Village on Friday morning around 2:34 a.m. by the mirror that was dropped from a window on one of the middle to upper floors of the residence hall.
“The best estimate is that (the mirror) came from one of the upper floors, given the trajectory,” said Commander Tim McGraw of CUPD.
The mirror hit a male, 20-year-old former student and a 19-year-old female student, whose names have not been released.
The female was treated and released from the scene, McGraw said the mirror only slightly injured her.
“A shard of glass cut her foot; it was superficial and did not require stitches or anything,” McGraw said.
The male was rushed to Boulder Community Hospital for significant lacerations to the back of the head. He was released several hours later according to McGraw.
The mirror involved in the incident appears to have been the industrial type that is provided in the dorm rooms and is estimated to have been one foot by three feet in size.
“It appears to be one of the mirrors fastened to the wall in a resident’s room,” McGraw said.
Now officers are trying to figure out who is responsible for the incident.
“A number of officers are trying to find out what happened,” McGraw said. “Officers have identified 10 potential witnesses.”
