New Super Smash Bros. game a hit
The Super Smash Bros. games have been big hits for Nintendo since 1999, and the newest one continues that trend.
Game developer Sora released the much anticipated Super Smash Bros. Brawl on March 9. The game is designed for the Wii and is intensely fun.
Gamers now have three ways to play. One can play stage by stage like in the original Super Smash Bros. or in an adventure mode like in Super Smash Bros. Melee. The third and newest way to play is something called The Subspace Emissary. In this mode the gamer uses available characters in an attempt to defeat Tabuu, the game’s main antagonist.
While The Subspace Emissary is great, Adventure Mode should not be overlooked.
Adventure Mode is a two-dimensional linear level very similar to the original Mario games but with much better graphics and more complex challenges. During this part of the game the player has to learn to utilize every character. Adventure Mode is fun and reveals the majority of the creativity that was put into the game.
Classic Mode, for those that haven’t played either of the first two games, is the one on one or two on two fighting that made the multiplayer game originally so fun. Single player allows the gamer to pick one of twenty one players to fight through stages. Each stage consists of a battle against certain characters, some of which who have allies. The best part about Brawl is the fact that the classic fighting can be played online which makes it one of the best fighting game series available.
The antagonist in the game is also new. In the original game the villain is Master Hand, then in the second game both Master Hand (right hand) and Crazy Hand (left hand) are against the player. In Brawl, the villain is Tabuu, who is a spirit who controls both hands.
To beat the main enemy, players have a variety of characters to choose from.
One of the best new characters includes Pokémon Trainer (known as Ash Ketchum to Pokémon fans) who actually stands in the back and during the match. During play, he can choose between the Pokémon Ivysaur, Squirtle and Charizard to fight. Some other new characters in Brawl include Diddy Kong, Wario, Sonic the Hedgehog and Meta Knight from the Kirby series.
A big difference in this game is how the characters are controlled.
Wii games offer a number of ways to hold the controller and for Brawl there are four controller options for the gamer to use. The options include a Gamecube controller that plugs into the Wii or the Wii remote alone or with the nunchuk attachment. The fourth option is the Classic Controller made for the Wii by Nintendo, which is shaped like the Super Nintendo controller with an addition of two joysticks in the lower middle.
This game is awesome and is by far the best game to come out for the Wii to date. Not getting this game would be a waste of a good Wii.
