Weekly golf tips from the CU team
Having trouble getting a grip on things? Grab onto this tip from senior player Michael Baird and head coach Roy Edwards, and you’ll get a hold of your golf game, in addition to your club.
People often forget that the only connection between player and club is the grip. It makes sense then to focus on getting this crucial component correct.
As you grab the club, consider the different approaches to a proper grip, including the overlapping, interlocking, and baseball grip. Whichever is your favorite, make sure that you hold the club lightly and in your fingers. Make sure that the ‘V’ formed between your thumb and index finger points to your right shoulder.
As a slight variation try a stronger grip or lighter grip by moving the point of the ‘V’ further left or right. Do not squeeze the club more or less. This may aid in the removal of a slice or hook.
Thank you for joining us this week. Check again next Thursday for another tip from the CU golf team.
