Concert a hit in Club 156
Born in the Flood brought in a wave of fans into Club 156 for their concert on March 1.
With about 52 tickets sold, the members of Born in the Flood said they were very surprised about the turnout in the tiny venue.
“We don’t really play here that often; we’re stoked that people showed up and enjoyed the music,” said lead singer Joseph Pope III.
The concert was put on by CU’s Program Council.
“Program Council predicted this to be a more well attended event, but we are more than satisfied with tonight’s turnout,” said Evan Matt, the membership coordinator for Program Council.
The band’s musical style has changed over the years, but for now, their music is settled on an indie/modern rock sound using a unique variety of different instruments including tambourines, maracas and piano.
The band is not signed to a record company.
While the band used to be signed, they decided to drop their label because they said they felt it was best for the creative sound of the band.
Now unsigned, the band is gaining a larger fan base and greater popularity.
Born in the Flood won the “Best Of: Indie Rock” award in 2007 in Westword.
“The concert was great,” said Samantha Wagner, a freshman psychology major. “They did really well. They had a lot of energy and put on an amazing show.”
Born in the Flood’s CD is available for purchase online through iTunes for $9.99.
